In addition to supporting his growing family, he had to navigate through a pandemic and a significant downtown construction project that restricted access to his business. Despite these challenges, Wes’s creativity, commitment to his staff, and ability to pivot ensured a smooth journey, transforming The Antidote into a cherished community hub.

Wes thrives in the high-energy environment of a busy bar. This passion and drive are what keep The Antidote at the heart of West Bend’s social scene. Coming up on its third anniversary, The Antidote boasts not just a single location but an expanding brand with sister locations that add to its unique narrative. What began as a singular cocktail bar has grown into a multi-faceted experience offering craft cocktails, catering, private parties, and a fantastic menu featuring local favorites.
The Antidote Experience
The Antidote’s story is told through its various locations with a sci-fi-inspired throughline connecting them:
- The Hive (Newburg, WI): This is where the journey begins. Known as the “underground lab” where a virus was created, The Hive offers a cozy dining experience with a menu featuring flatbreads, soups, chili, and an array of drinks and drink specials.
- The Outbreak (West Bend, WI): The second stop on the journey. Here, patrons “catch the virus” while enjoying a classic drink menu and a small menu featuring local favorite, Tochi Ramen.
- The Antidote (West Bend, WI): Just down the road from The Outbreak, this is where you can go for “the cure.” The main location offers craft cocktails curated by Wes and his team, each inspired by some of Wes’s favorite cinematic classics:
- Pulp Fiction: A vodka cocktail blend featuring blood orange flavors.
- John Wick: A Bulleit whiskey concoction prepared with a smoky twist.
- The Ark (West Bend, WI): The final stop in the storyline. Named after a sci-fi device that allows teleportation, The Ark is a rental hall designed to mirror The Antidote but with ample space to accommodate larger groups and events.

He carries with him the advice of a fellow local business owner: “I don’t have competition in this town.
