Our Story

Our story began in the wake of the Great Chicago Fire when many insurers refused to cover churches with large steeples or charged unreasonably high rates due to the risk of lightning strikes. Seeing the need for change, a group of dedicated businessmen formed a mutual aid society to protect churches, properties, and their communities from fire—laying the foundation for Badger Mutual. That same commitment to doing the right thing continues to guide us today.

Over the years, we’ve expanded our coverage, grown our reach, embraced the latest technology, and built a team dedicated to serving our partner agents and policyholders.
