How Much Do I Need?

There are different ways to determine how much insurance you need on your personal property.
One way is to take a complete inventory of your possessions, listing each item, when it was acquired, and the purchase price or current value. For help with this see our Property Inventory Form. Totaling up the amounts of all these items will give you a rough idea of what your property is worth. Once this is done, put this inventory in a safe place away from home - in a bank safe deposit or with your insurance agent, for example. Supplement your inventory with photos. If you have a claim, this inventory and photos may speed up the settlement process.
